My mum NEVER ran a business

My mum NEVER ran a business

but she built my empire

I lost everything in 2024.

Her voice in my head: 'if it has passed you by, it was never meant for you. don't hold on.'

She never understood Pinterest or funnels, but she understood me.

And she made damn sure I understood my worth.

When I got rejected from every placement job. Stressing about how I'd find one short notice. 'They don't deserve you. Something better is coming.'

When my first business partner screwed me over. Left me with nothing but debt. 'You built it once. You'll build it bigger.'

She was right every time.

I watched my biggest client walk away last year £70k recurring revenue. Goneeee My ego screamed to chase them

But I heard her voice: 'Know your worth'

So I let them go.

LITERALLY 3 weeks later? A wellness brand slid into my DMs. Same budget. Better alignment. Actually respected my boundaries.

The old client came crawling back 7 months later. Begging. Offering more money.

Too late bestie - I was booked solid 💅

My mum never ran a business. But she taught me everything about business:

Never beg for your worth. Never shrink to fit their budget. Never accept disrespect as normal.

She'd remind me of this whenever things got tough: 'Remember who you are'

Four words that built an empire.

Everyone needs a mum like my mum

Someone who sees your worth before you do Who believes in you when you can't Who teaches you that walking away is POWER

Every time I doubt myself, I hear her: 'You're exactly where you need to be'

And somehow, she's always right.

(but don't tell her that)

love you forever, Sue Yardley. thanks for making me bulletproof 🩷
